Having scuba tanks on your back isn’t a requirement for exploring the underwater world. Many scuba divers have discovered the joy of mounting cylinders on their sides. Sidemount diving gives you flexibility and streamlining options. Plus, you don’t have to walk with heavy cylinders on your back – just enter the water, clip them on and go. Sound interesting? Sign up for the PADI Sidemount Diver Specialty course.

Along with learning about the many benefits of diving with a sidemount configuration, during one confined water and three open water scuba dives you’ll learn how to:
-
- Properly assemble and configure sidemount scuba diving equipment.
- Trim your weight system and sidemount gear so you’re perfectly balanced in the water.
- Manage gas by switching second stages as planned, if wearing two cylinders.
- Respond correctly to potential problems when sidemount diving.

-
Course Prerequisites:
- Minimum age 15
- PADI Open Water Scuba Diver or equivalent

The pool segment of your Open Water training is scheduled as a one day event. Students and Instructors will meet at Saguaro Diving, generally at 8am, and start the day with SCUBA gear assignment and set-up. The student is responsible for having their personal gear; mask, fins, dive boots and snorkel; prior to this day of training. From the shop we will head out to a designated Mesa Parks & Rec pool for a day of training and fun. Before donning SCUBA gear there is a swim evaluation; 200 yards, any stroke, and a 10 minute float/tread; as required by the certifying agency, PADI/SDI. It is during your water time that the required skills are accomplished to make you a safe diver. Later, during your Open Water certification dives, you will be evaluated on some of the skills that you learned in the pool. Because PADI/SDI training is standardized the student will accomplish the same skills/be evaluated on specific skills no matter where the training is conducted. Although you will not need your educational materials for this session, please pack a picnic style lunch, beverages, a bathing suit & towel, and sunscreen, along with your personal gear. Let’s get wet and make some bubbles!

Apollo Bio-Fin Pro With Adjustable Strap
$3.78 – $219.00
Split fins originated with Apollo Bio-Fins in 1998. Design and material choices resulted in 8 “Tester’s Choice” Awards. Two decades later, no other fin has achieved the consistently top marks and back to back honors awarded Bio-Fin Pro series.
Product Description
- Split Fin, Open Heel
- Adjustable Rubber Strap
- 100% natural rubber blade and foot pocket
- Blade at 20º angle reduces strain on joints
- Easy finning for all levels of fitness
- Effortless power without muscle cramping
- Increased maximum speed, reduced fatigue
- Up to 40% reduced muscle fatigue, energy output and air consumption; longest recorded bottom times in testing
- Open toe foot pocket for added comfort
- See Specifications for size chart
- Manufactured In Japan
World’s Best Fin
- Scuba Diving Magazine protocol states that qualifying fins must be new to the test process. Bio-Fin series qualified for 8 annual reviews. Awarded “Tester’s Choice” 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 & 2007.
- Scuba Gear Reports “Tester’s Choice” Video
Bio Fins are the only split fins made with 100% natural rubber. Although a bit heavier in your gear bag, for the purpose of diving, you won’t feel it. Rubber is king! No compound, hybrid or synthetic material can beat the comfort, flexibility and responsiveness of natural rubber.
Rubber or Spring?
- Rubber Strap instantly adjusts to suit a variety of footwear and users. Press clip to adjust length, squeeze to remove.
- Stainless Steel Spring Strap is extremely durable. Easiest to don and doff. Auto adjusts to remain snug throughout dive. Stock fins sold with specific spring length.
Apollo Bio Fins are designed with a 20º angle to accommodate diver’s natural tendency to bend slightly at the ankle and knee. The result is maximum on demand propulsion with the least amount of stress on the body.

Split Fin Technology
Bio Fins provide lift and propulsion with less effort and more power. Unlike other fins which push water up and down, Bio Fin blade directs water flow over the leading and trailing edges to provide power, lift and forward thrust on each stroke.

Tech & Care
- Wider kicks will result in loss of momentum. Whether your traveling at cruise speed or powering through current keep kicks small. You will move quicker and more efficiently.
- Rinse fins with fresh water after use. Store indoors. Avoid extended exposure to extreme heat, cold, damp, dry and automotive exhaust. Bio fins are not the same material as tires which are often a synthetic or compound. Avoid UV and other sprays or lubricants. These products often contain oils or other ingredients harmful to natural rubber.
- Spring Straps are stainless but not stain proof. To ensure hardware remains cosmetically appealing and easy to work with, we recommend occasional disassembly to rinse screw threads. Baking soda can help remove any staining.
Free Shipping Terms and Conditions:
