The pool segment of your Open Water training is scheduled as a one day event. Students and Instructors will meet at Saguaro Diving, generally at 8am, and start the day with SCUBA gear assignment and set-up. The student is responsible for having their personal gear; mask, fins, dive boots and snorkel; prior to this day of training. From the shop we will head out to a designated Mesa Parks & Rec pool for a day of training and fun. Before donning SCUBA gear there is a swim evaluation; 200 yards, any stroke, and a 10 minute float/tread; as required by the certifying agency, PADI/SDI. It is during your water time that the required skills are accomplished to make you a safe diver. Later, during your Open Water certification dives, you will be evaluated on some of the skills that you learned in the pool. Because PADI/SDI training is standardized the student will accomplish the same skills/be evaluated on specific skills no matter where the training is conducted. Although you will not need your educational materials for this session, please pack a picnic style lunch, beverages, a bathing suit & towel, and sunscreen, along with your personal gear. Let’s get wet and make some bubbles!

• SDI Discover Scuba ~ Your first step into the world of diving! Diving is so magical that it’s hard to explain. Like the first time you breathe underwater, when your brain registers it as a unique and unrepeatable moment. Or when you feel the weightlessness: your body feels light, and floating becomes natural, the closest feeling to flying. It all happens as you discover a new world filled with incredible animals, lively reefs, and silent wrecks that tell stories. No, it can never be fully described. You have to live it, guided and calm, so you can simply enjoy the moment. The experience begins here.
• PADI Discover Scuba Diving ~ Want to find out what scuba diving is like before deciding to get your PADI Open Water Diver scuba diving certification? During a Discover Scuba® Diving experience, you can try scuba diving for the first time in a pool or calm water environment. A highly-trained PADI® Professional will provide scuba gear, explain basic scuba diving skills and answer any questions you may have. After your Discover Scuba, if you decide to complete your certification course with Saguaro Scuba, you will be refunded the total cost of the Discover Scuba and you already have a good start on the knowledge and the skills you will need to complete your SDI or PADI open water diver course.
🐡 Ages 8+
• PADI Bubblemaker ~ Experience scuba diving under the direct supervision of a PADI Pro. Take your first breaths underwater in water shallower than 2 metres/6 ft. For children who are at least 8 years old. Bubblemaker is as fun as it sounds – a chance for kids to blow bubbles by scuba diving. Children who are at least 8 years old can use scuba gear to breathe underwater and swim around in shallow water. Have a party or celebrate a birthday by throwing a memorable, exciting Bubblemaker event with friends and family at your PADI dive shop. A child must be 8 years old or older. Kids must be comfortable in the water, but no prior experience is necessary. Parental approval is required.
• PADI Seal Team ~ The PADI Seal Team is for young scuba divers who are looking for action-packed fun in a pool by completing exciting AquaMissions. Have you ever wondered what it’s like to dive with flashlights, take digital pictures underwater or float effortlessly like an astronaut? Beyond learning basic scuba skills, there are specialty AquaMissions, such as wreck diving, navigation, buoyancy, environmental awareness and more. PADI Seal Team includes doing some cool stuff in the pool, meeting friends and sharing in the adventure of the underwater world. To join the PADI Seal Team, a child must be 8 years of age or older. No prior experience with scuba diving is necessary, but kids should be comfortable in the water. Parental approval is required.
These fun, safe, and instructor-led experiences introduce kids to the magic of scuba diving in a controlled environment while building confidence and underwater skills.

Event Details
