Disabled Diving Overview
Scuba diving is now being looked at by many professionals as an excellent method of therapy for people who suffer from mental or physical disabilities. By it’s nature, scuba diving provides an excellent environment with many therapeutic characteristics that simply don’t exist on land. First and foremost, the weightlessness of being underwater can relieve a lot of physical pain and can help patients exercise in a much more comfortable environment. For many people who have suffered from mental or emotional trauma, the slow and deep breathing involved with scuba diving also offers an incredibly relaxing experience. Becoming a scuba diver also offers a great sense of achievement for many people and also is a great social activity for people who sometimes can feel very isolated.
