Scuba Diving The Island Of Grand Turk
As the world slowly begins to open back up to scuba divers the island of Grand Turk, in the Turks and Caicos awaits.
The Turks & Caicos has re-opened its borders to travelers and is open for tourism with a few restrictions which will likely be the new norm across the tourism industry for the foreseeable future.
For people who aren’t familiar, Grand Turk is a small island, only 7 miles by 1 mile, which has the world’s 3rd largest barrier reef just 300 yards off shore. There are some great accommodations on island, including the beautiful and diver specific Bohio Dive Resort.

There are some exciting things to see in Turks and Caicos when diving. Including the annual migration of humpback whales which generally occurs between the months of January and April. Whale watching trips are scheduled when whales are spotted nearby and are always a favourite amongst guests.
Throughout the year when diving Grand Turk you will find both soft and hard corals in a variety of shapes and colours. You will also find an impressive array of both anemones and sponges. For marine life, angelfish, groupers, snappers, barracuda, jacks, parrotfish and so many more fish are found throughout the waters. In addition lobsters, crabs, turtles, seahorses, eagle rays, stingrays, nurse sharks and manta rays, are all commonly found. Less common but possible is the massive whale shark which is always a treat!
Right now, there are some added steps to being able to travel to the Turks & Caicos. Travelers must pre-register with TCI Assured (http://turksandcaicostourism.com). Airlines will only board travelers who have pre-authorization. A TCI Assured application requires a negative Covid Test (PCR Swab) within 5 days prior to arrival in Turks, medical and travel insurance which covers COVID 19, and a completed health screening questionnaire.
